Fidesz wins the Parliamentary elections in 1988


The Fidesz–Hungarian Civic Party coalition wins 148 seats in the Hungarian Parliament, more than the Socialist Party. Viktor Orban assumes the role of Prime Minister at the age of 35, being the second youngest Prime Minister of Hungary. His first term was marked by changes to the executive branch in Hungary,including the replacement of numerous civil servants and named a new minister to oversee the work of his Cabinet.
